best glock 34 upgrades

Best Glock 34 Upgrades - With more accessories and parts available for it than a 95 Honda Civic, finding the right mods for my Glock 34 was truly the ultimate task. The ultimate use of this renowned amalgamation of polymer and tenifer finished steel is that of a competition pistol and Tac (practical) optic for 3Gun. It could also be used as a limited small gun in the USPSA if I wanted to return to my competitive pistol roots.

So what's a guy with a Glock 34 and a budget under $500 to do?

There are only a handful of things I won't try, one of which is selecting the slide of my gun. After a week of searching all over the internet, I came across the MOD One site and was immediately struck by the fact that it is a one man operation. The owner does all the good work himself, which is a pretty cool feeling for me knowing that a guy spent his time making my slide perfect from start to finish. An email or two, a month, and a lot less pesos than I expected later, and the slide was back for me. Now the sky is the limit with what you can do with your gun in their shop but I went for more function than the flash and chose to get flash cuts (which reduce weight), angled front buttons (allows for easier Pressure controls or gun loading on the watch), "Bob" Cut (reduces weight and looks great) and finally it had wolf gray cerakot just because.

The Best Glock Upgrades You Can Do Yourself

Unlike the IDPA or USPSA, pistol magazine reloads are not as common in 3-gun matches. This large piece of stainless steel serves four separate tasks. The first and foremost is that it just looks bad. Not? The three real advantages of this specific ZEV Tech Magwell are: weight, improved pull grip and reloading assistance. Weight is one of the biggest factors for me and the 7.6oz weight really helps balance out the recoil as it adds about 30% of the guns original weight to the farthest point of the light polymer frame - Physics 101. ..

Even though I don't have to do as many reloads of the gun, if one happens, the magwell is essentially a giant funnel for my fresh magazine and helps reduce the "hoopsy" factor. Finally, due to its size and the fact that it goes into the frame, the bottom of the palm closes to the magwell when you fire. In my opinion, this modified grip is better than the famous Glock grip angle.

Yes, I could go out and spend $100/$150 on a Glock trigger drop, but guess what I didn't. Instead, I opted for the most economical bang for the buck, which is the Lone Wolf trigger endstop, 3.5lb phantom connector, and competition spring pack.

What for? The combination of these affordable parts and a little polishing gives you a sub 3lb trigger that breaks cleanly and allows for very fast double taps. Keep in mind I don't shoot targets at 50 yards with my gun and this setup is mostly good enough to compete for now.

Nothing too crazy here again. I went with a red HIViz fiberglass sight and a dark serrated scope because it allows my eyes to absorb the scope extremely quickly.

The point, meaning adding the frame texture by burning small holes into it, really makes a difference in putting as much palm as possible on the pistol grip. I also went crazy with my dremel and a sanding bit to remove the area under the trigger guard and go around where the middle finger is. This places your hand as high on the gun as possible and ultimately helps dampen the ferocity of the 9mm's recoil. (obvious joke)

In all seriousness, this is the only part of the project that I'd rather leave to the pros, and by pros I mean MOD One Firearms' unique army. Before I found out about the so-called custom gun shop, I went to town on the Glock frame with a soldering iron. While it performs well and does its job, their store hits it out of the park.

Is there a @#$% bear in the woods? Hell YES! After putting a little over 2,000 rounds of 124gr 9mm through the gun so far, I've noticed quite a few things. It shoots incredibly smooth, so smooth in fact that I can track the viewfinder much easier when shooting fast. This is likely from the balanced weight of the magwell and more importantly the weight removed from the slide. Not only that, but the overall controllability of the pistol has greatly improved, which I'm happy to say has boosted my confidence in my pistol skills. I can't wait to see how it does in my 3-gun matches this summer!

Glock pistols regularly appear on bestseller lists, equip over 60% of America's law enforcement forces, and are recommended by many industry professionals. When a first-time gun buyer asks for handgun recommendations, the typical response is "get a Glock." When a firearm platform becomes very popular, as it did with the Glock, manufacturers rush to produce third-party parts and accessories for that platform. Not surprisingly, the size of the Glock aftermarket rivals that of the 1911 pistol or the AR-15.

The original Glock pistol, the first generation Glock 17, was developed in the early 1980s to compete in trials with the Austrian military pistol.

The Future Of Glock Is Now: Why 5th Generation Glock Guns Are Everything

The Glock 17 entered the military pistol test as a high capacity firearm, allowing 17 rounds in the magazine. It had a lightweight frame made mostly of polymers, a polygon-wound barrel (more accurate and easier to maintain), and very few controls with no manual safety and no decocking mechanism. It had three internal safeties, including a drop safety and a trigger-mounted safety. It can be disassembled and assembled quickly and without tools, with only 34 parts.

Glock durable and reliable design became the winner of the Austrian military pistol trials. This led to its adoption as the P80. Subsequent joint tests by Norway and Sweden revealed that the Glock pistol exceeded all NATO durability standards, leading to its adoption by both countries.

In 1986, Glock opened an office in Smyrna, GA. Glock pistols began to be imported in the same year and officially hit the market in 1988, attracting the attention of both civilian and law enforcement shooters.

Every component in a Glock pistol has at least one aftermarket equivalent. The range of Glock compatible products can be difficult to navigate, especially for newcomers.

Other standard Glock upgrades include grip modifications, replacement barrels, magazine extensions, extended cases, extended control sets, replacement slides, and accessories such as lights, lasers and red dot scopes.

Stock Glock sights are polymer. The sighting system consists of a square U-notch rear sight and a single dot rear sight. While these sights are functional, most shooters don't like the thought of plastic sights.

The stock Glock sights are not illuminated. If you plan to use a gun for home defense, you may want to opt for night vision. Night vision does not require batteries and comes in two forms: tritium illumination and fiber optic.
