Full disclosure: Most of the pistols I review are new to me and my reviews are based on first impressions. Not so with this one. I owned the original G30 before the 30S was released and sold the G30 in 2014 to get the G30S. It is lighter and thinner than the original model and is a gem of a pistol; .45 caliber shot in a compact frame that suits me. Aside from being chambered in .45 ACP, the Glock 30S is probably my favorite handgun.

The first and last reason to consider any type of Glock pistol is simplicity and reliability. There is no simpler and more reliable handgun on the planet than the Glock. In addition, the G30S is designed for concealed carry - it is a compact version of the Glock 21 pistol. So you can easily carry the G30S to conceal it (it's slightly smaller than the G19).
You might want to consider the G30S for the .45 chambering, as many people prefer to have less large caliber rounds on their hips than smaller ones. If you have larger hands, you may want to consider the 30S for its tighter grip radius. It's a double-stack .45, so it has a meaty grip that fills the hand. Despite the large chamber, two large round stacks, and meaty grip, the G30S is a relatively light carry pistol, weighing only 30 ounces, loaded.
The Glock 30S is a slightly smaller version of the G30. Key features are a slimmer slide width (1.12" vs. 1") and lower slide assembly weight (a full 3.5 ounces lighter than the G30 slide assembly) and a 30S trigger with SF frame the distance is slightly shorter. and overall grip radius compared to the regular G30.
, but has the saving grace of being very easy to contour with a Dremmel sander for perfect fit and comfort. I think every Glock pistol frame needs to be butted as well as contoured, so that's how my 30Sim is set up. So for me, the Glock 30S fits like a glove.

I think some will find the G30S grip to be more comfortable than other Glock models because of the extra scope. I took a look and my medium found the girth and trigger length to be good.
A .45 ACP round has less recoil compared to a 9mm, and any .45 shot fired from a compact, polymer frame produces less pop. That said, the G30S is by no means harsh or unmanageable. A slightly wider grip than usual and the softness of the plastic made the pistol a bit flimsy. I have no problem shooting a Bill drill as accurate as I can pump my finger with this pistol, and it's easy to control if you have a good grip. As with comfort, the frame can be contoured to allow better thumb support to help control recoil.
I should point out that while a 10-round magazine will allow almost anyone to fully grip the pistol, a 9-round magazine leaves a short enough grip that it may not be a good buy in a person's pinky grip. . . For those with large hands, the pink color may be missing. The result isn't as short as, say, a G26, but its .45 may mean some people want the full grip provided by a 10-round magazine to help manage recoil impulses.
I'm used to carrying a Glock 19 all day and the G30S conceals better than the G19. This fact is mainly due to the shorter handle. The slide is the same width as the G19, but the frame is slightly wider, but that's it, and there is no concealment difference. Overall, this is an easy-to-conceal pistol; and slightly heavier than the G19. If you carry a 9-round magazine, the G30S is lighter on your belt.

Typically, extended-sight magazines are 10 rounds, and your gun can hold 11. That capacity isn't bad, especially considering the compact package and handle length. No complaints here.
Well, it's a Glock. The Glock 30S is built like any other Glock pistol and features a Gen 3 style frame. The return spring is of the purchased double spring variety. Like most Glock pistols, the G30S features rear U-line polymer sights. You'll probably want to replace those stock sights with some kind of steel sights.
The muzzle port of the 30S slide has a bull-nose outline, but is similar to other models. The sliding locking lever and removal tabs are extremely low profile, providing the simplest and most stylish outdoor accessory controls in the business.
Despite its simplicity and reliability, adjustment is a Glock's best friend. Almost every aftermarket manufacturer in the world makes parts and accessories for Glock pistols, and if you're looking to replace or add parts, you'll have the widest range of options to choose from.

Note that unlike some Glock pistols, the G30S does not have a reverse magazine release. If you're left-handed, the G30S requires you to use the magazine release as before. It's not a big deal, but it's a departure from almost every other modern Glock model.
I carried a Glock 30S a few years ago and it was my daily carry pistol for about a year. I wear the pistol inside the waistband at the 5 o'clock position, with a 9 round magazine in the gun and 2 10 round mags in the OWB mag pouch on my left side at the 8 o'clock position. This device hides very well under a regular t-shirt, thanks in part to the compactness of the G30S with its flush magazine. Even with a full-size magazine, the G30S has a shorter grip than the G19 (which is my everyday carry right now), so it's a little more stealthy if it's your carry.
Fully loaded, the G30S is less than .4 ounces heavier than a fully loaded G19, at 30.36 ounces. It's not very light, but for a double-barreled .45 pistol, it's very noticeable. I think when you have a good lifting belt, it's easy to forget you're wearing one. And this is not a false statement, but a fact based on long experience.
The Glock 30S is an easy-to-conceal, compact .45 with great potential for its size and weight. It's as reliable a pistol as ever, and it's easy to set up; with a wide range of aftermarket parts and cases.
Best (small) Glock Pistols: Is Smaller Better?
For some with smaller hands, the grip may be uncomfortably wide. Polymer scenery is just begging to be replaced with steel. The price may be a bit high for this pistol.
The Glock 30S is probably the most comfortable compact pistol Glock makes, but it still needs some tweaking to become a truly comfortable weapon.
The Glock 30S is probably not for everyone, but everyone should give it a try. If you like the .45 ACP round and don't mind its recoil profile, I think the G30S provides the perfect combination of size, weight, capacity, reliability, and concealability.
